I don’t think any site about Wise County would be complete without a mention of one of the more popular local Facebook groups – Wise County Rant and Rave.

While there are certainly groups with more members and several that are very active, those groups are mainly buy and sell groups and most of the activity is from for sale posts. Wise County Rant and Rave is different because it’s a discussion group. 

The main purpose of the site is to provide an outlet for community members to post about their interactions with local businesses – good or bad. People frequently turn to the group to solicit recommendations for businesses as well. The group is definitely a great resource for information about some of our local businesses. 

Though the group is definitely a valuable asset to the residents of Wise County it is important to note that there are frequently some very heated discussions in there. Those threads are often not for the faint of heart or the thin-skinned. In spite of that, I have found that it is easy enough to just take the useful information offered and steer clear of the drama.
